About Hanoi Food Walk
Hanoi Food Walk is an independent guide to eating in Hanoi — written for people who would rather queue at a 6am phở stall than book a four-course tasting menu. We list places we'd send a friend to, in plain language, with the trade-offs spelled out.
What we cover
- Specific stalls, restaurants and cafés — not generic "best of" lists.
- How locals eat each dish, and what to skip.
- Self-guided walking routes you can follow without a paid tour.
- Practical advice on safety, timing, payment and ordering.
- Honest reviews of the major food tours when readers ask.
How we make money
This site is funded by two things, both clearly marked when they appear:
- Affiliate links to tour operators (GetYourGuide, Viator, Klook, Booking.com). If you book through these links we get a small commission at no extra cost to you. See our affiliate disclosure.
- Display advertising — once traffic is large enough to qualify for an ad network. We will never show pop-ups, auto-playing video, or anything that gets in the way of reading.
We will not accept payment from individual restaurants or stalls in exchange for favourable reviews, ever. If a stall is on this site, it's because we like it.
What we don't do
- "Top 50" listicles full of places we've never been.
- AI-generated descriptions designed to rank for keywords.
- Hide affiliate relationships.
- Sell your email address. We won't.
Our images
Until we publish original photography, the photos on this site come from Wikimedia Commons under Creative Commons licences. Full credits at /credits. As we visit each stall ourselves, we replace the placeholder shots with our own.
